Parents and Families: Campus Life Update from Student Affairs

Dear Parents and Families,

As we transition to the summer season, we hope your student get rest and find new ways to engage with those around them. Know that we are here for them during the summer and want to continue to provide them with resources, information, and connection opportunities. Our goal is to support them over the summer, so they can be refreshed, and look forward to the semester ahead with renewed hope and energy.

Around Campus

We understand that students and families are eager to learn more about what the fall semester will look like at APU. The State of California intends to offer directives on reopening institutions of higher education as early as next month. As we monitor this guidance, President Ferguson and the President’s Cabinet are currently developing return to campus plans for fall, with appropriate modifications to safeguard the health and safety of our community and will share those with our students, families, and other constituencies as soon as we are able. Thanks for your patience!

Student Health Center Update

As we await further guidance from our federal, state, and local public health experts, we are planning additional safety measures for students’ return to campus. While the vast majority of college students are at very low risk for complications due to COVID-19, there are a few conditions that the Centers For Disease Control and Prevention deem to place a person at high risk for complications due to COVID-19. One of Dr. Todd Emerson’s goals this summer is to help individuals with these conditions lower their risk for complications. If your student has asthma, please learn about ways to help stay well this summer and prepare for the fall.

Please also continue to visit the APU COVID-19 website for updated information as developments occur.

Ongoing Engagement

Student Affairs launched Together APU, an online platform dedicated to providing continued connection and support while students are away from campus. Throughout the summer, Together APU will provide new content often, so visit the website to engage in digital campus life events, spiritual growth opportunities, and wellness support. The website has pages with specific content for our Undergraduate students, Graduate and Professional students, and incoming new students.
