In Recognition of Our Preceptors,
We, the student nurses of Azusa Pacific University, would like to extend a heartfelt “thank you” for all the work you have put into helping us become excellent nurses.
Through nursing school, we have learned that to practice the science of nursing requires a nurse who can perform a thorough and accurate physical assessment by inspecting, palpating, percussing, and auscultating the patient’s body. You have shown us that to ascend to the art of nursing requires a nurse willing to perform a thorough and accurate assessment of the person, via inspection of the character, palpation of the mind, percussion of the heart, and auscultation of the soul. We wanted to take time and recognize all of the reasons nursing is not only a career, but a gift, and why we are so thankful that you have taken us underneath your wings to show us the fruits that nursing produces. You are the kind of nurse we look up to and aspire to be like. You have provided us with an astounding example of how to treat patients with respect and compassion, and how to maintain a gracious spirit. Your sharp intellect advances the standards of care.
Thank you for the hours you dedicated at work to teaching, questioning, and preparing our minds. Thank you for the patience and poise you modeled as we practiced our technical skills. Thank you for your listening ears when we asked a seemingly endless list of questions. Thank you for helping us stay motivated, and for reminding us of the hope of the future. And most importantly, thank you for being role models in the field of nursing.
“Nurses have come a long way in a few short decades. In the past, our attention focused on physical, mental, and emotional healing. Now we talk of healing your life, healing the environment, and healing the planet.” – Lynn Keegan
From the bottom of our hearts, we sincerely thank you!
