Azusa Pacific University’s Board of Trustees announces Adam J. Morris, PhD, as its 18th president. Having received unanimous support from the board, Morris is a nationally recognized and accomplished senior administrator and lifelong advocate for Christian higher education. He currently serves as the Executive Vice President, Chief Transformation Officer, and Chief Institutional Advancement Officer. Morris’ distinguished 30-year career is marked by visionary leadership, stellar strategic planning skills, and significant advancement expertise that have fueled organizational transformation and innovation and brought hundreds of millions of dollars in support of mission-focused endeavors. He will advance APU’s God First mission of graduating a new generation of disciples and scholars to make a difference in the world for Christ. Read the announcement.

About Adam J. Morris

Adam J. Morris, PhD, is an accomplished senior administrator in Christian higher education with a deep love for the Lord, a genuine heart for students, and a high regard for the transformative role of an engaged faculty. He excels at mobilizing staff around a compelling vision, with specific gifting in the area of strategic planning and transformation and a rich history of securing significant external financial support to advance the mission of an organization. Entrepreneurial, innovative, collaborative, and discerning, Morris has more than 30 years of experience in Christian higher education.

He joined Biola’s senior leadership team as Vice President in 2007 and currently serves as the Executive Vice President, Chief Transformation Officer, and Chief Institutional Advancement Officer. In the role of Executive Vice President, he was a member of the President’s Cabinet and the President’s Administrative Council and worked with a team of 45 senior administrators to help shape and implement the university’s strategic plan. As Chief Transformation Officer, he steered university-wide transformation efforts in order to help the institution thrive missionally, academically, and financially in the ever-changing landscape of Christian higher education. As the Chief Institutional Advancement Officer, he led all annual, capital, and deferred gift fundraising efforts. He was also responsible for the team that drove all enrollment and marketing functions linked to institutional revenue.
