  • Mike Truong, Ph.D.
    Digital Learning Architect and Executive Director

    Mike is APU’s digital learning architect and ITT’s executive director, providing thought leadership, strategic foresight, and innovative solutions at the intersection of teaching, learning, and technology. Prior to coming to APU, Mike was a founding faculty member at the University of California, Merced, where he helped establish its Center for Research on Teaching Excellence and the Merritt Writing Program. Mike is passionate about global Christian higher education, with a particular focus on Vietnam.

  • Kari Morrison

    Kari serves as the primary point of contact for the office, performing many important duties that allow the office to operate efficiently and effectively. In addition, she provides administrative support to the executive director and other staff members. Kari lives in Glendora and enjoys running and helping others.

  • Ann Kwinn, Ph.D.

    Ann directs faculty training and certification for online and blended learning, and her team consults with faculty on instructional technology strategy, course design, digital pedagogy, and media production. Prior to joining APU, she held leadership positions at Bellevue University, CallSource, and Clark Training and Consulting. She co-wrote the book The New Virtual Classroom (Pfeiffer, 2007) with Ruth Clark, and she serves on the advisory board for UC Irvine’s E-Learning Instructional Design program.

  • Tom Wilson, Ph.D.

    Tom leads the team that designs and builds fully online courses. Tom has a Ph.D. and M.S. in Instructional Design and Technology. His research interests are multimedia instruction and mobile learning. Prior to joining APU, he was associate dean of online learning at another institution. Tom’s interest in learning through multimedia stems from his experience as a TV writer/producer in Hawaii.

  • Steve McLean
    Assistant Director, Instructional Technology

    Steve provides operational and technical leadership for APU’s various instructional technology systems. He also serves as the administrator for the learning management system (LMS), ensuring its efficient operation and ongoing maintenance. In addition, he partners with key stakeholders to identify, evaluate, and implement appropriate instructional technologies that advance the university’s teaching and learning mission.

  • Carl Littlejohn, M.A.
    Instructional Support Manager

    Carl trains and supports faculty in their use of technology in their teaching. In particular, he leads faculty training on the learning management system (LMS), works with faculty to implement technology into their curriculum, creates and maintains faculty training content, collaborates with key stakeholders to research, evaluate, and implement new technologies. Carl earned his M.A. in Technology Education and Leadership from CSU Los Angeles. Carl enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, and coaching youth sports.

  • Andrew Jittu, M.A.
    Operational Data Manager

    Andrew is responsible for processing and maintaining registration and enrollment data within APU’s learning management system. He works closely with the three registrar offices to establish terms and course schedules for online and face-to-face courses. He also provides support for faculty and students in course creation and access to the learning management system.

  • Tim Schreffler
    Instructional Support Coordinator

    Tim ’11 provides faculty training and support on the use of technology to enhance the teaching and learning experience, including mobile learning. He collaborates with the Instructional Support Manager to resolve instructional support tickets, coordinate course imports, and develop training resources. As a graduate of APU with a B.A. in Youth Ministry, Tim strives to serve the community and faculty who helped shape him.

  • George Hanshaw, Psy.D.
    Online Instructional Designer

    George works with subject-matter experts to develop programs and courses for online offering, and has more than 17 years of instructional design and training experience. He has designed, developed, and implemented online learning programs for major corporations. George attends High Desert Church in Victorville, California, and volunteers in the children’s ministry with his family.

  • Katie Price, M.A.
    Online Instructional Designer

    Katie works with subject-matter experts from various schools to develop courses and programs for online offering. Katie is an APU graduate (B.A. in Liberal Studies ’05, K–8 Teaching Credential ’06, M.A. in Educational Technology ’12), and hopes she can share her love for and experience in education and technology with the community that has given so much to her.

  • Joseph Kim, M.A.
    Online Instructional Designer

    Joseph works with subject-matter experts to develop programs and courses for online offering. His experiences include teaching and developing ESL curriculum, advising undergraduate and graduate students pursuing online degrees, and developing curriculum for youth, college students, and adults in church settings. He holds an M.A. in Cross Cultural Studies and an M.A. in Theology from Fuller Theological Seminary, and is pursuing an Ed.S. in Educational Technology at the University of Missouri.

  • Elaine Monahan, M.A.
    Online Instructional Designer

    Elaine brings with her more than 20 years of online instructional design and development experience and more than 15 years of online and on-the-ground teacher experience. She has worked in higher education and in the corporate sector, and her core competencies include e-learning and multimedia design, project management, technical writing, and instructor training. Elaine earned an M.A. from USC and continues to use technology to support learning initiatives. She is an avid hiker and backpacker and enjoys the outdoors any time she can.

  • Chris Devin, M.A.
    Online Instructional Designer

    Chris works with subject-matter experts from various schools to develop courses and programs for online offering. Chris has a B.A. in Educational Ministries from Seattle Pacific University and an M.A. in Curriculum Design and Technology Leadership from Cal State Los Angeles. He is passionate about course design and technology integration in the classroom and at church, where he loves to serve the children’s ministry. In addition, he enjoys biking, traveling around the globe, and reading in his free time.

    Instructional Designer for Organizational Development

    Jessica ’14 works with subject-matter experts to develop employee training modules and programs. Her passion for training began as student training manager for APU’s Information and Media Technology office. Jessica is an APU graduate with a B.A. in Business Management and recently graduated with an M.S. in Instructional Design and Technology from CSU Fullerton. She loves learning about new consumer technology and exploring trending food spots in Southern California.
